WHAT THE NEIGHBORS KNOW

“What the Neighbors Know,” was a short-lived radio pilot, hosted, produced and edited by Shey from the Bay, broadcast on RadioValencia.fm. Two hours in length, the show featured one segment with a guest telling their extraordinary story, together with music curated
around that story.

This was a rough crash-course in solo sound and editorial production, and though the episodes got better and better, and received positive feedback and good numbers, it was too much and too serious for one person to produce.

THE CURATED CATASTROPHE

“What the Neighbors Know,” eventually led to co-producing a different show on RadioValencia.fm with an unlikely counterpart, Malderor, called “The Curated Catastrophe.” We’ve created a balanced ratio of ‘terrific: slapdash-as-fuck’ episodes.

Malderor says there are two episodes that are maybe-Pulitzer-worthy. (Is he joking? You decide: 1, 2.)

“The Curated Catastrophe” is an ongoing project–Malderor’s been producing the show for years, and Shey dropped in somewhere in 2019. Its continued growth and expansion is only limited by Malderor’s attention, Shey from the Bay’s patience, and the financial fact that it is community radio. We love it. And so may you.
